Empire Prairie
Wind & Solar

Located in Northwest Missouri across Gentry, DeKalb, and Andrew Counties, The Empire Prairie Wind and Solar Projects will generate up to 400 MW of wind and 400 MW of solar energy. One MW can power between 650 and 1,000 homes, depending on energy efficiency measures and geographic location.

The proposed projects will be located on approximately 30,000 acres of privately owned land and combine renewable energy innovation with meaningful economic and environmental benefits. ENGIE projects are designed with minimal impact on ecosystems and wildlife, promoting responsible land stewardship where possible across all phases of development.

The projects will respect the legacy of agricultural land use in the three-county area through industry best practice project development. We will also endeavor to include soil enrichment and pollinator habitat enhancement techniques throughout the projects’ operational lives.

Safety is ENGIE's top priority, and we are proud of our record of safely constructing and operating renewable energy generation facilities.

Why Renewable Energy?

Demand for renewable energy has grown dramatically, with more than 200 companies worldwide committing to go 100% renewable. Solar and wind energies are clean, reliable, and affordable, helping communities emerge sustainably into the future.

What are Battery Energy Storage Systems?

Battery Energy Storage Systems support a reliable grid through instantaneous deployment of power whenever it is needed the most. These systems are excellent additions to solar and wind technologies as they work in tandem to create and store energy. This helps prevent price spikes during peak demand periods and creates a more secure, reliable grid.

Where w]Will the Power Generated From the Project Go?

The power from Empire Prairie Hybrid will be delivered to the local Missouri electrical grid, helping to diversify Missouri’s energy portfolio and reduce its reliance on electricity generated in other states.
